What We Do

At KYDG, we deliver a variety of tailored programs designed to meet the educational, social, and economic needs of youth in Luwero. Each program is structured to provide real skills, support and opportunities for sustainable development.

Education Support & Scholarships
We provide scholarships, school-materials kits (uniforms, books, stationery), and after-school tutoring for vulnerable children and youth. Our goal is to reduce dropout rates, ease the burden on families, and ensure that bright but needy youths stay in school. Through mentorship and guidance, we also support academic progress and prepare youth for national exams and future opportunities.

Vocational & Practical Skills Training
Understanding that not all young people may continue formal education, KYDG offers vocational and skills training in areas such as tailoring, crafts/beadwork, carpentry basics, hairdressing & beauty, agribusiness and other income-generating trades. Each course combines practical workshops, business-planning sessions, and — for graduates who complete successfully — provision of starter toolkits. Our aim is to help youth start small businesses, secure apprenticeships, or find stable employment.

Digital Literacy & Open-Source Technology
In recognition of the growing importance of digital skills, we run ICT and digital-literacy training using open-source tools. Youth are taught basic computing, document management, spreadsheets, online communication, and digital safety. Through these classes, trainees gain skills useful for schoolwork, small-business administration, or remote/freelance opportunities.

Entrepreneurship & Business Support
Graduates and trainees interested in starting their own small enterprises receive mentorship in business planning, bookkeeping, customer service, savings groups (e.g., local savings & credit), and simple financial management. For promising ventures, we support them with micro-grants or equipment where possible. This helps transition skills into sustainable livelihoods.

Cultural Transformation & Leadership Development
Beyond material support, KYDG fosters positive cultural values, community engagement, and leadership skills. We organize peer-leadership training, community-service projects, and cultural events, helping youth to become responsible, community-oriented citizens who respect their heritage while embracing positive change.

Community Outreach & Partnership Building
KYDG works beyond individual beneficiaries. We collaborate with local schools, community leaders, and other organizations to organize outreach projects, awareness campaigns, and joint initiatives that benefit larger groups. Through outreach, we aim to strengthen community bonds, promote education and skills development, and raise awareness about youth challenges and potential.
